Karen Kovacik, author of Metropolis Burning and three previous poetry collections, received the Charity Randall Citation from the International Poetry Forum and a Creative Renewal Fellowship from the Arts Council of Indianapolis, among other awards. She earned a Fulbright Research Grant to Poland and a literary translation fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts; her contemporary Polish poetry translations have since appeared in numerous journals and anthologies, including Crazyhorse, Southern Review and APR. Karen is Director of Creative Writing and a Professor of English at IUPUI.
